Becky moved to Suffolk when she was 3 years old and attended primary school, high school and sixth form college in Ipswich. She now lives in Woodbridge with her husband, two sons and a daughter. Becky graduated with a BSc Hons degree in molecular biology and genetics from the University of East Anglia in 2003. She then completed 3 years as a postgraduate research scientist in biochemistry whilst also teaching undergraduates on a weekly basis. In 2006, she decided to embark on a career in teaching and completed her secondary science PGCE at UEA. She has since spent 9 years teaching biology and chemistry in an outstanding school, working as an examiner and a private tutor. Becky joined the FIC team in 2016 and is now Head of Science and Maths. She is keen to help coordinate whole school assessment and support students with their independent study skills.
Bev was born and raised in Surrey; both parent, brother and numerous other relatives have all served in both His Majesty’s and Her Majesty’s Armed Forces. A teaching career spanning thirty five years working in West London, Chicago USA and Germany, Bev spent her final 22 years teaching at Deben High School in Felixstowe. As Deputy Head (Vice Principal) she was responsible for improving academic performance at KS4 and KS5 alongside developing student leadership projects. Since retirement Bev volunteers for the War Memorials Trust and for Felixstowe Forward as one of the town’s ambassadors. She has catalogued the Secondary Schools’ Archive containing thousands of photos and documents from 1915 to the present day which are stored at the International College. Bev is also resurrecting a garden in one of the School’s quads, originally designed by a long-serving member of Deben High School.
