Students enjoy a full programme of lessons, sport and activities from Monday to Friday. They live in a boarding house close to the School where a homely atmosphere has been created.
Academic focus is on maths and the sciences but in addition they can chose from a range of subjects including psychology, history and art. Students study 5 GCSEs before going on to select their options at A Level. Students are motivated and mentored by a team of dedicated staff.
A large field at the School enables a variety of sports including football, hockey, athletics and archery. Badminton, basketball, volleyball, netball and table tennis are on the sports curriculum held in the sports hall.
Community Volunteering and Activities
Students are encouraged to get involved in the local community to help improve their English, social skills and importantly to learn about the diverse opportunities beyond the classroom. Students aged 12-15 are expected to join the local branch of cadets (Air, Sea or Army).
Talent in Abundance
FIC encourages students to show off their musical talents which has resulted in being asked by the local community to support charitable events such as the annual Mayor’s concert, Felixstowe Lions Christmas Lights switch on and Worship dance at Christ Church Easter Service. At the end of year prize giving ceremony students produce and perform a concert for staff, parents and friends bringing the year’s achievements to an uplifting finale.
