During the school holidays a national production company selected Felixstowe International College to shoot some footage for a promotional recruitment film for the Merchant Navy. All the filming was completed in Felixstowe from scenes at the Docks to sitting on the beach front feeding seagulls. FIC are pleased and proud to have been part of this dynamic recruitment film.
Air Cadet Jaehyuk Lee proudly holds his certificate confirming his successful attendance at the Junior
Non-Commissioned Officer’s (JNCO) Course at RAF Barnham on 28-29 January 2017. The two-day
course included drill, care and correct wearing of uniform, team work, responsibilities of a JNCO and
leadership skills. Cdt Lee particularly enjoyed the full cooked English breakfast provided by the RAF
kitchens! He now awaits his promotion which is likely to be early in the Summer Term.
Congratulations from all at FIC, Jaehyuk!
The Senior Team Mathematics Challenge was held at Northgate High School in Ipswich on 30th November where 20 teams representing their school took part.
The competition comprised 3 rounds:
Round 1(40mins): The teams had to solve 10 challenge questions together.
Round 2(40mins): The teams split in pairs to solve “Cross numbers” in which each pairs’ answers help the other pair to solve their questions.
Round 3(32mins): The relay round in which the pairs have to give answers to the other pair with which they can solve their question.
FIC was represented by Seongwon Hong, Gabriella Li, Kyungha Lee and Shenghui Duan.
FIC came 9th place out of 20 teams which is most commendable considering they did not have much time to prepare for the competition.
Congratulations to Yage (Gabriella) Li, Jeonghyun (Mike) Won and ex-pupil Chungman Park who have all been invited by Oxford or Cambridge universities to attend interviews before Christmas.
FIC students delighted onlookers with entertainment prior to the switching on of the Christmas lights in Felixstowe High Street. Charity, Felixstowe Lions Club asked if students would perform having seen them the previous year at the Mayor’s Charity Concert. Students did not disappoint with magical dance choreographed and performed by the Worship Dance team, music and song from The Pilgrims worship band and the 26-strong school choir.
